Important notes of employment of foreign domestic helpers and employers
- Must provide economic documents
- Must provide suitable and reasonable security, fixed bed and wardrobe for FDH accommodation
- The domestic helper can shares room with woman or child, but cannot shares room with male 12 or older
- Every day you must give the FDH 8 hours of sleep
- It is necessary to provide three meals a day for free to the FDH. Otherwise, meal allowance of not less than $1,236 per month will be required. (Note: Indonesia Helpers are generally Muslim and do not eat pork, but can cook pork)
- must provide free medical care, including consultation costs, hospitalization costs and dental emergency
- Labor insurance must be purchased for the FDH
- A free round-trip airfare for the FDH going back to his/her homeland every two years
Please submit the following documents via the applicant:
- Please provide a copy of employer’s Hong Kong Identity Card. If the employer is not a Hong Kong permanent resident, please provide a copy of the employer’s travel document (including personal data and the latest Hong Kong visa).
- must provide the name, birth year and ID number or birth paper number of all family members living at the contract address;
- Please present the employer’s latest tax statement (issued by the tax bureau)
- Or the last 3 months automatic transfer of salary account certificate to prove that the employer’s annual salary exceeds HK$180,000.- or more. Or a monthly salary of HK$15,000.- or more
- Or the salary bill for the most recent 3 months; or a bank’s fixed deposit in the last 3 months which exceeded HK$360,000.-
- (To hire 2 helpers, the employer’s annual salary requirement is HK$180,000 x 2 = $360,000 or the fixed deposit needs to exceed HK$720,000.- And so on).
- A copy of the marriage certificate or a copy of the birth certificate (if the income statement or proof of address is different from the applicant's name)
- Please show the true copy of the water/gas/rate/residential telephone/electricity fee/cable television bill registered in the name of the employer in the last three months (mobile phone bill will not be accepted). The original invoice will be returned by the applicant.
- The name of the current/past foreign domestic helper, the Hong Kong identity card number and the effective date of the work permit if any.
If the above information is updated or changed, it must comply with the terms of the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
